UPDATE — The work of clearing significant volumes of snowfall from Highway 37 between Meziadin Junction and Deltaic Creek continues today, and we hope to see the route widened by February 1.
The extreme snowfall over the last few weeks has made the work of clearing the highway extremely difficult, in part because snowbanks are now so high, we have nowhere to move the snow. Extra snow blowers, graders and loaders have been brought to the area, and our crews will work 24/7 to keep this important route passable.
We appreciate the patience of everyone who depends on this route and urge you to tell us if you see something on the routes that poses a safety hazard. With 65 kilometres of road to maintain in this section, it’s hard to know what is happening at all times.
Call us at 1-800-842-4122 to report conditions. Every winter storm is different and can create treacherous conditions across even short distances. We need you to tell us what you are seeing on the roads, as local knowledge helps us determine priorities!
We want to assure you we are working hard to make our roads safe. As locals who live and work in the area, we share your concerns for road safety. It’s our biggest priority, just as we know it’s yours’. We want everyone to get home safe!
