Grade two and three students from Desert Sands Community School participated in Dawson Road Maintenance’s annual Paint the Plow safety event on Wednesday.

“The kids were so happy to have us back and even more excited to see some of their artwork still on the plow from last year,” said Ashcroft Road Foreman, Crystal Laidlaw.

“We were starting to worry we wouldn’t make it – with snow keeping the crews on the road and kids in the classroom. Even though this is only our second Paint the Plow event in Ashcroft, it already means so much to the crew and the students.”

“When our drivers are out working to keep the streets safe, they are always on the lookout for the young artists. Drivers and school staff have told me that when the kids see their decorated truck drive by, that they shout, ‘There’s my truck!’ It makes the crew so happy to know that one afternoon spent at the school, can bring an entire winter of joyful moments for all involved.”

Dawson Road Maintenance’s annual Paint the Plow event – meant to encourage fun along with a reminder about plow safety – will be expanding out of the Cariboo next year, to our new areas in the Bulkley Nass and North Peace.  We are excited!
